«The Odyssey of the Mind» - is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries (including Russia, Japan, Argentina, Germany, Australia, Switzerland, China etc.) participate in this program.

This educational program helps children to show their creativity, to understand what validity to cognition and art is. Children communicate there with other children the same age as them, but from other countries, so they begin to respect all cultures. Also each child, even a very shy one, could feel his personal freedom there and be able to solve the problem the way he wants.

Members of this program try themselves as designers and constructors, actors and producers, composers and poets, script writers and journalists. They learn how to work with different technical means, how to make decorations and costumes (everything is hand made, from interesting materials and wastes).

Principals and peculiarities of this game let everyone contribute to good ecology. Polyethylene, plastic bottles, tins, old papers.. and other things that people used to through away now are using as materials for beautiful decorations and costumes.

Just imagine how this would help our planet from pollution!

Ideas and solutions that children invent are often better and much more original than adults can suggest! During the preparations to this game children develop their creative thinking, they acquire mathematical and humanity knowledge. And it’s not just the Odyssey of the Mind competition where they can use it, these skills are very important in real life.

Teams are taking part in different social shares: in 2009 our team and our friends (also OotM team) from Florida took part in social program against Cancer.

We’re students from Saint-Petersburg, Russia. We have been participating in “Odyssey of the Mind” program since 2007 year. Every year we were the winners in regional competitions in our city and in 2008 year we became the winners in regional games in Belarus. We participated in Eurofestival of “Odyssey of the Mind” in Germany (2007), in Hungary (2008). We even made nice performance on Worlds Final in U.S.A. (2008). And in 2009 we won Eurofestival in Slovakia.

And now we are asking you to help us with financing in Worlds Final (2010) in Michigan university, U.S.A.

«Одиссея разума» - это международная образовательная программа, целью которой является развитие нестандартного, креативного мышления у детей и молодежи  в возрасте от 5 до 23 лет. В 2009 г. программе исполнилось 30 лет.

«Одиссея Разума» - это прекрасное молодежное движение, которое способно объединить тысячи детей и подростков под флагом творчества, сотрудничества, толерантности. Оно дает возможность участникам проявить себя в ярких представлениях, спонтанных конкурсах, реализовать свой творческий потенциал (участники программы пробуют себя в роли дизайнера и конструктора, актера и режиссера, композитора и поэта, сценариста и журналиста; они учатся создавать декорации и шить костюмы, работать с различными техническими средствами).

Это прекрасная возможность воспитания в наших детях  чувства патриотизма, гордости за свою страну. Ведь все соревнования «Одиссеи Разума» начинаются с поднятия флагов стран-участников и исполнения национальных гимнов.

  Международные этапы конкурса проводятся на английском языке, поэтому у детей есть возможность и желание углубленно заниматься языком.

Данная образовательная программа отражает основные идеи программы 2020 и концепции стандартов второго поколения.

Ученики школы № 89 Калининского района Санкт-Петербурга являются участниками программы «Одиссея разума» с 2007 года. За это время они ежегодно становились победителями региональных соревнований «Одиссея разума» в Санкт-Петербурге, в 2008 году стали победителями региональных соревнований в Белоруссии, участвовали в Еврофестивале «Одиссея разума» в Германии (2007 г.), в Венгрии (2008 г.), стали победителями Еврофестиваля в Словакии в 2009 г. Достойно представили Санкт-Петербург на мировом финале в США в 2008 г.

В рамках развития программы «Одиссея разума» в нашем городе и поддержки участников программы необходима материальная помощь для подготовки к международным соревнованиям (создание декораций и костюмов – 125$) и участия в международных соревнованиях (поездка на мировой финал в США в 2010).
